Spotlight on Ross Auction Centre Extract from Ross Gazette 14 Oct 2009 Two TV crews visited Ross Auction Centre last week, one group was from Panorama and the other was filming Jimmy Doherty, the star of the BBC documentary series, Jimmy's Farm. He was in Ross last Saturday to snap up some new pigs from Williams and Watkins and he brought four pigs at the sale which included several rare breeds.
Jimmy shot to fame in 2002 when his struggle to set up a pig farm became a must see drama which revolved around his lack of experience, his financial struggles and his relationships with employees, friends and his girlfriend, Michaela Furney. Several more series have been filmed including Crisis on Jimmy's Farm which aired on BBC in 2007, featuring developments on the farm including the opening of Guinea Pig village as well as the struggles of ensuring the extension of the lease and problems with Christmas hamper orders.
The Panorama Crew was in Ross to film a vet examining the pigs. In the programme they will compare how a newly qualified vet examines animals with a more experienced vet. This programme will probably be shown in December. |
